Okay I lied, I guess maybe this will be my last post until an R1 mans up and decides to do this instead of me, since I'm not really in the Department of Family Medicine anymore. Anyway, Cindy asked me to post this:
MDWork.com is a comprehensive Canada-wide physician job registry created by a recent Canadian medical graduate currently practicing anesthesia in Quebec. Now with over 700 current physician vacancies listed, we are saving physicians and residents significant time in their job and locum search--come and take a look for yourself. We're also looking for feedback to improve the service. For a chance to win one of four $50 Chapters gift cards, we're requesting input from students and residents through a 5 minute survey at mdwork.questionpro.com

Canada's Physician Job Registry
While it's not my place to advocate anything in particular, this is a decent site. Another similar site, but Alberta specific is http://www.albertaphysicianlink.ab.ca/.

This is my last post as webmaster for the FMRA website. Mayank Singal will be taking over from here on it, plus an as-of-yet-unidentified R1. I don't have much to report other than more job updates. Also today is officially the last day of family medicine for the R2s out there so congratulations everyone.

I apologize for being sluggish with job and AHD updates. I am on rural medicine and can't update the website from there. I just made a huge update to the Jobs section. Also, I forgot to copy the presentations from the last AHD to my USB key, if they're still on the desktop at our next session I will post them then.
And finally, some much belated announcements:
As you all know, then end of the academic year is fast approaching, as is Graduation 2010! In order to accomodate everyone who would like to attend, we would like to gage interest from those planning to join the festivities and be able to estimate ticket prices. If you plan to attend and know how many people you will be bringing, please send a verifcation reply to this email address. Tickets will likely range from $40-60 per guest. Tickets will be sold at the APRIL/MAY AHD.

Special Edition of FMRA Announcements
Winter Retreat
It was great seeing so many residents at the Resident Education Forum in Jasper. Many residents captured some of the highlights of the retreat with their cameras and we would appreciate it if you could send us some of those pictures to our e-mail account at fmrachief@gmail.com
We hope to display some of these photos at the next academic half day as well as use them for next year's orientation and CaRMS presentations.
Those who attended the forum should have also received an on-line evaluation via one45. If you haven't already, please take a moment to complete the evaluation as it will be beneficial information for next year's organization team.
Benchmark Exam Review Session
As you may already know, a Benchmarking Exam debriefing session will be held on Monday March 29th from 7:00-9:00pm, location TBA. Please
let Cindy know if you will be attending by March 25, 2010 If you have particular questions you would like to review or specific concerns, ensure that you pass these along to Dr. Schipper so that these can be addressed at the session.
Message for PGY-2's
Hope the CCFP studying is going well. We understand that the exam is probably your primary focus at this time, but we just wanted to make you aware that if you glance at the Practice Management booklet we received in December, the recommendation was to start thinking about applying for a CPSA license. It may not be a bad idea to request for an application package before the end of the March. Pleas refer to the Practice Management booklet for further details.
There have also been a few e-mails from residents regarding BLS/ACLS re-certification. We are currently looking into this and will get back to you all in due course.
Good luck with the studying!
Thanks all,
Anneliese and Jamil
I had people ask me about the calendar at our last FMRA meeting. I probably do 90% of the updates right now, but really, anyone on any committee could do them. All you need is a gmail account. The technical aspect of it is really non-existent, if you can send an e-mail, you can update the calendar. If anyone wants to play around with it just let me know.
Also all lectures from last AHD are up, I managed to get all the lectures lickety-split this time.
Thanks,
Anish Chari
1. CaRMS – THANK YOU!
Thank you to all residents who participated in the CaRMS interviews and social events in January. We received a lot of great feedback from
the medical student candidates about the program and the residents!

The Winter Retreat at the Jasper Park Lodge is fast approaching on March 12-14 2010. The retreat is call protected for all Family Medicine

residents recently with all the pertinent information. Once you’ve booked your room(s), make sure to send Mona (manpreet@ualberta.ca) the required information so we can ensure childcare, activities, brunch tickets, etc. Also, make sure you e-mail Andrew (aseddy@ualberta.ca)
if you plan on skiing on March 14 in Jasper. Residents are requested to bring their own hockey sticks for the outdoor ball hockey
tournament on March 12 as there are limited hockey sticks provided. We hope these can be shared with other residents also participating.
3. FMRA Meeting
The monthly videoconference FMRA meeting will be held after AHD in the Dvorkin Lounge Room 2G2.07. Please ensure that at least one member of
your respective committee is at the meeting to provide the FMRA with an update. Highlights for this month’s meeting will include Recent
Program Changes. Please note: Minutes from each meeting can be accessed on the FMRA website for your reference.
